Neat straight teeth

Neat straight teeth

If all you want is to have neat, straight teeth with no gaps, so that you smile and talk without having to cover your mouth with your hand then Invisalign Welwyn is here to help.

Looking into the mirror every morning can be a discouraging or a pleasing experience. If you have crooked or protruding teeth or gaps in your teeth, it’s not only the aesthetics that you need to consider, but oral hygiene is affected as well. If your teeth are too close together your toothbrush cannot get in between to clean and flossing is also not always possible. Misaligned teeth can also cause jaw muscle pain due to strain. In some cases patients have small mouths and too many teeth which causes the teeth to shift. A common problem is the upper teeth protrude due to thumb-sucking as a child. You can decide which experience you would like when looking into that mirror by taking the necessary action. Why wait, there’s never been a better time to take action and the more you delay the worse it will become.

What is Invisalign

A series of custom-made aligners are created which are designed to gently and gradually move your teeth to correct whatever imperfections need addressing. There are no metal wires or brackets and because Invisalign is clear it is far less noticeable than a conventional metal brace. In more extreme cases it may be necessary to apply enamel-coloured ridges that click into the aligners, to help move the teeth more effectively.

The aligners can be removed for eating and it is recommended to brush your teeth after eating and before refitting the aligners to ensure that no food remnants remain.

SmartTrack is a thermoplastic, medical-grade, plastic material which is used in the manufacture of these flexible and clear aligners.

What happens next?

This treatment should be considered to correct those annoying imperfections that make you self-conscious about your smile.

At a first consultation the dentist will want to take into consideration all dental history and will take pictures and 3D images.A full clean and polish is normally done at this stage to identify any cavities or early signs of decay and any possible gingivitis. After a thorough inspection of teeth and gums a treatment plan will be suggested which will allow for any questions too.

The estimated average treatment time is around twelve to eighteen months depending on an individual’s particular requirements. Sometimes treatment can be as short as three months.

At the second consultation the new aligners will be checked to ensure a perfect fit and any adjustments required will be made at this stage.

A new set of aligners is required after every two weeks of treatment to gradually move the teeth into alignment.

It is necessary to commit to wearing the aligners for a minimum of 22 hours per day.

At each subsequent consultation an assessment will be made of the progress of the treatment and any tweaking that is required will be performed.

Once treatment has been completed you will be able to smile confidently in the knowledge that you have a mouthful of straight, even teeth and there will be no need to hide your mouth with your hand!
