How to Transform your Home into a Winter Wonderland

As the colder months approach, you will probably be spending more and more time in your home. With so much time being spent in your home, you might notice that some rooms could use a bit of seasonal sprucing up. Why not redecorate your home for the winter and the holiday season? No matter your budget, you get creatively revamp many aspects of your home in the spirit of the season. Try out some of these ideas to design your own winter wonderland:

Emphasize your Fireplace

If you are lucky enough to have a hearth in your home, this is the time to take advantage of it. Make your fireplace the centre of attention in your home. Surround it with comfortable furniture to allow you and your guests a chance to bask in its warmth. Decorate it with Christmas stockings, candles, or a small wreath of dried flowers and fruit to bring it to life.

Dress Up your Dining Room

Several beautiful family meals will be shared in the coming weeks in your dining room, so make it into a cosy space where everyone can enjoy themselves and those around them. Try changing the colour scheme of the room by placing seat covers over the chairs or adding a new table cloth or runner for the table. You can add or change the table’s centrepiece as well, using seasonal fruits and vegetables to craft a tasty centrepiece or romantic candles to set a relaxed mood.

Love your Bedroom

With so many more night-time hours during the winter, you will hopefully be catching up on all that sleep you skipped out on during the warmer months. Make your bedroom into a cozy, relaxing safe haven that you will look forward to hibernating in throughout the winter. Use mood lighting or candles to set the right ambience. Replace your bedding with warm earthy colors to give you a sense of heat and comfort. Take out your biggest, fluffiest, and warmest blanket to luxuriously drape over your bed. If you follow these tips, you will not be able to resist the temptation of your bedroom this winter.

Add Warmth to your Living Room

You are probably looking forward to catching up on your favourite shows of the season or watching videos of newly-released films as the weather gets colder and colder this season. Make sure your living room is prepared for these late night sessions. Set it up with a few plush, warm throw blankets to keep you and all your guests warm late into the night while adding a welcoming look to the room. If you are feeling energetic, you can change the colour scheme of the room through sofa-coverings, curtains, and/or paint to reflect the more relaxed and reflective mood of the season. Complement this with sharp looking white images, glassware, or handy ready to assemble furniture that will highlight the chilly and clean-cut nature of the season. Make your living room into the place no one wants to leave.

Soften your Step

Walking on cold floors is one of the biggest drawbacks of the winter season. Prepare yourself by adding furry rugs wherever you spend the most time, like in your bedroom and living room. These will add to the cosy look of your winter paradise and keep your toes warm throughout the winter.

Even with only small improvements, every room of your house can easily transition into the winter season. Focus on your fireplace, play with colours, and bring out all of your warmest goods to make your home into the winter wonderland that makes you happy to relax at home this winter.
